The Friends Downtown/Meal and a Message Ministry is an outreach to the community’s less fortunate. This ministry serves on Sunday mornings at 8:30, and has a weekly service on Wednesday evenings.

1) Bus Crew

Downtown bus pick-up at 8:15 A.M. on Sunday and 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the corner of 14th and Imperial Ave in downtown San Diego.

2) God’s Closet

Supplies clothing, shoes, blankets, and toiletries.

3) Kitchen Crew

Provides a Sunday morning breakfast and Wednesday evening dinner.

4) Dinner Hosts & Hostesses

These people attend a short message with community and downtown guests and then share a meal and conversation while at the dinner table. This happens from 4:00-6:00 P.M. on Wednesdays.

The Food Distribution Ministry is dedicated to providing grocery type food products to the people of San Diego County. We pickup the food from Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank every Wednesday, and then transport it to the church where it is bagged and distributed. We have many areas that need help all throughout the day, so please stop by and see God at work in this ministry.

1) Pick-up crew

At 10:15 A.M. a group meets at the church and goes to the food bank to help William get the food and load it into the truck. The group arrives back at the church by 1:00 P.M.

2) Baggers

At 12:45 P.M. the truck is usually back and being unloaded. This group bags up the food into individual portions and counts to see how many bags we have of each item.

3) Boxers

At 1:15 P.M. this group starts making reserved boxes of food with the groceries that were bagged.

4) Distributors

At 4:15 P.M. we start handing out the bagged food to the community.

5) Clean-up crew

At 6:30 P.M., after everything is finished, we need people to clear chairs away from the tables and clean any messes in the building caused by the ministry.

If you would like to serve in these areas, please email William by clicking here.
